About
Black Swan Asset Management was founded by Ronnyjane Goldsmith after 25 years as an investment manager first at Merrill Lynch, then at Morgan Stanley and currently at Steward Partners.
Goldsmith began her career in public finance as a “fixer” often hired after grand jury recommendations. The fiscal policies she advanced in the public sector, well documented by newspapers, brought to light conflicts of interest in the public sector that cost taxpayers billions of dollars while enriching the coffers of elected officials, private consultants, and labor unions.
After decades of solving financial problems after the fact, Goldsmith transferred her skills to private finance where she was determined to protect client assets before the impact of catastrophic events. Her timing was impeccable, moving to private investment management in 1998. In that year and just months before LTCM collapsed and the Dot Com Bubble burst Goldsmith moved client assets from internet stocks purchased on the recommendation of prior advisors into municipal bonds, treasuries, and preferred stocks.
Black Swan Asset Management solutions continue to be simple and elegant and many times at odds with prevailing practices that ignore potential black swans.
“Plan for the unexpected.”
